Hey neighbor!
We wanted to remind you that applications for our 2026 Neighborhood Alliance Leadership Academy (NALA) cohort are now open and close February 3 at noon!
NALA is a nine-class neighborhood leadership and civic engagement course. This free academy will teach you to be an effective leader and navigate local government and non-profits. Throughout NALA, class attendees will receive trainings and participate in unique experiences. Past course topics have included how to advocate for your community, public art in communities, how the city is funded, and more. Additionally, past speakers have included the director of public works, traffic and planning commissioners, city council members, and other prominent citizens!
"Apply! Even if you don't see yourself as "leader" in your community, the skills and information gained through this academy will help you identify a number of ways to get connected and support efforts to build the community you can thrive and want to live in... Without NALA, I would not have the skills or confidence to help restart our neighborhood association." - Maria Mancebo, Aurora Neighborhood Association
"NALA really did wonders in helping me 'feel comfortable' putting myself out there on the Planning Commission. I mean, I initially just showed up to get some HOA and neighborhood knowledge - nothing to exciting right? But somehow, it magically sparked a deep passion to better serve my community. Who knew?" - Mike Privett, Ward 4 Planning Commissioner
If accepted into our cohort, members of the program are asked to commit to making all courses. The 2026 NALA dates are:
